The Benefits of FLAVA Membership

• Working on a national level with groups that promote language study;
• Working on a state level with the Virginia Department of Education and with state chapters of language organizations in helping to facilitate support of language study;
• Receiving a semi-annual journal and having access to a website with links to information worldwide;
• Providing contacts between educators and business inspiring both to work together on foreign language pursuits;
• Working at a personal level to keep you, as a professional, informed of nationwide and state news concerning language study.

Why Join a Professional Organization?

There are three types of membership available in the Foreign Language Association of Virginia:

• Regular Membership - $35.00
• Student Membership - $20.00
• Lifetime Membership - $400.00

Please help us keep our mailing list current and insure timely delivery of the Bulletin by notifying FLAVA of your change in address. Please use the change of mailing and/or e-mail address form and send it to the FLAVA Treasurer, Mrs Jackie Yau.

Lifetime Membership

Being a Life Member of FLAVA brings you the satisfaction of knowing you are supporting, over the long term, a viable and important area of your profession. The one-time fee of $400.00 is a deal! All the benefits of regular membership are yours. As with all types of FLAVA memberships, you will be on our listserv so you can keep abreast of all FLAVA events and will know when the next issue of the Bulletin is posted on the website. You will stay in touch with your profession - even after you retire.

Look at this list of Lifetime Members. It is a collection of some of the great leaders of our organization. However, it also a list of folks just like you and me, folks who spend their professional life going about their daily routine. You don't have to be a leader to be a Lifetime Member (although it would be nice if you decided to become one). It's a great deal if you think you will be part of FLAVA for at least ten years.
