FLAVA 2006 Conference Keynote Speaker

Ken Stewart (Spanish, Chapel Hill High School, Chapel Hill, NC), named as the first recipient of the ACTFL National Language Teacher of the Year Award, will be the keynote speaker for the 2006 FLAVA Conference, October 13-14, in Richmond. Ken, whose teaching career spans 19 years, is a National Board Certified Spanish Teacher and is well known nation-wide for his work with the College Board AP Spanish program. Ken was the finalist from the Southern Conference on Language Teaching (SCOLT), and one of five regional winners from around the U.S. The Teacher of the Year award was created to recognize a foreign language teacher at the K-12 level who exhibits excellence in classroom language teaching. As the official ambassador for our profession, Ken serves as a spokesperson for language education in 2006, making appearances and giving presentations at conferences and at events that promote language education through the Discover Languages public awareness campaign. FLAVA is pleased and honored to have Ken Stewart as our keynote speaker for Conference 2006! |
